But on this particular day, something rare happened—the clouds lifted, and Aoraki / Mt Cook, the tallest mountain in the land, appeared clear and proud on the horizon.

This original pastel captures that fleeting moment of stillness and grandeur. The scene holds both earthly calm and alpine majesty, a view once shared by mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary, who trained in these mountains before summiting Everest.
