Moeraki Boulder Beach New Zealand Original Pastel

Moeraki Boulder Beach New Zealand Original Pastel

Regular price £1,125.00
Sale price £1,125.00

Along the windswept coast of New Zealand’s South Island lies Moeraki Boulder Beach, where enormous spherical boulders rest half-buried in the sand, nature’s own sculpture garden. Formed over millions of years, their smooth, rounded shapes seem almost otherworldly, as if the earth itself has been quietly creating art.

In this piece, the artist captures the gentle mystery of these natural forms alongside driftwood swept by the tide. Lime green sea meets soft golden sands, giving the ancient boulders a playful, almost living presence. Each one feels alive with personality, grounded yet serene.

A piece for those who see beauty in the unusual, and wonder in what time and tide can shape.

How Your Original Will Arrive and What to Do Next

This is an original artwork, created by the artists hands using soft pastels, a natural medium composed of pure pigment, clay, and a binder. These pastels (Rembrandt and Sennelier) are lightfast, permanent, and chemical-free, offering a life time of colour and depth.

“Degas used soft pastels in his ballerina series (1880s), the originals remain as vibrant today as the day he painted them.”

Because of its value and delicacy, the artwork is not framed before delivery. This reduces the carbon footprint as well as ensures:

  • The surface is protected from pressure and vibration during shipping

  • You can work with a trusted local framer to choose the right frame for your space and style

  • The artwork stays in its best possible condition until it’s safely behind glass

Please do not attempt to flatten or frame the artwork yourself. Originals must be carefully unrolled and mounted by a professional framer to avoid creasing, smudging, or damage.

This is the beginning of your role as its curator, the artwork has travelled from the artist’s hands to yours. Let it be framed with care and intention, ready to hold its place in your world.
